Black History Month: African American Civil War soldier Chautauqua

It is estimated that more than 186,000 men of color fought for the Union as soldiers in the Civil War. Angus Augustus Burleigh, a 19th century ex-slave served in the 12th Regiment of the 108th United States Colored Artillery and went on to become an acclaimed black educator and minister. Watch history come alive as Chautauqua scholar Hasan Davis portrays this important historical figure as part of the library's Black History Month celebration.
