Corona Park - the Blocks
07/16/2009 7:00 pm - 07/16/2009 8:30 pm

Charm, mystery and fascination abound along the streets of Corona Park, also known as the Blocks.  Bordered on the west by Abriendo Ave and the bluff above the Arkansas River on the east, Corona Park was laid out in the late nineteenth century.  The development of South Pueblo came about after General William Jackson Palmer purchased forty-eight thousand acres of the Nolan Land Grant.  South Pueblo was subdivided into Upper, Middle and Lower Divisions; the Middle Division with it’s meandering, curving streets was called “Corona Park” by General Palmer, meaning “Crown” in Spanish.  Most of the streets of South Pueblo had Spanish names in the beginning and this was truly the “Crown” of the newly formed town. Join us for a power point presentation as we share stories and pictures of the people, their homes and businesses along the winding streets of Corona Park.
